Do Not Reprogram Your Key!

It is possible to reprogram your key by downloading the appropriate software from the Az-Tech web site. You do not want to do this. Nothing useful can be accomplished by doing this; in fact, this will render your key useless.

There are several ways to destroy a key. One is by smashing it with a hammer. Another is by breaking it off while it is plugged in to a USB port. A third is to electronically smash the key by attempting to reprogram it with the Az-Tech software. You are responsible for the care of your key. Keys that are broken or reprogrammed must be returned to Interpex to be reprogrammed or replaced.

After more than 20 years of using Az-Tech keys, we have discovered very recently that it is possible for a user to download software from Az-Tech and reprogram the key to be an "Examples" key. No one has ever done this before. Now we have two instances in a short period of time.

If you or someone in your office or institution has reprogrammed your key, KeyShow.exe from Az-Tech will show the key as follows:

Notice the extensive use of the word "Example".

If you have reprogrammed your key, we will reprogram it at no charge if you return it with a return label. That is, you must pay shipping both to Interpex and from Interpex back to you. If you cannot supply a return label, we will return the key after shipping charges (including PayPal fees if paying by credit card through PayPal) are paid.

If you have broken your key, either accidentally or on purpose, there will be a US$40.00 charge to replace the key, in addition to the shipping charges to and from Interpex.
